Capture Details: This image contains a total of 7 ½ hours, (435 images @ 60 seconds each) taken over two consecutive and exceptionally clear nights.
This galaxy is easily visible with the naked eye through out the summer / fall.. Once dark ~9.00 pm look to the east and find Pegasus, (big box), then jump from Alpheratz to Mirach(quite bright). M31 will look like a white/greyish fuzzy patch, use binoculars and you can pull out some detail. Also visible in this image is M110, the large galaxy located to the lower right and M32 the smaller galaxy located upper left.
Fun fact: M31 and our own galaxy, the Milky Way galaxy are on a collision course, the estimated time of impact is ~4.5 billion years, give or take.
